GAMES HUB / ACCREDITATION
Accreditation is the process of verifying your eligibility to participate in the Games. It involves registering and receiving an Athlete Accreditation credential, which is essentially your ID for the Games.
- All athletes competing in the Games
- Eligible non-playing coaches who want to march in the Opening Ceremony Parade of Athletes
- Register online through the Birmingham Host website (https://bhm2025.com/registration/) or WPFG website (https://cpaf.org/wpfg-registration/). (Highly Recommended)
- Show your agency ID at the Registration/Accreditation Center (Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex - East Ballroom).
- If you don't have an ID, contact the organizers beforehand.
- No credential will be issued without a valid ID.

- Participation in the Games without accreditation is prohibited.
- Only registered and accredited athletes and eligible non-playing coaches can participate in the Opening Ceremony Parade of Athletes.
- Sports Information Area: Located at the BJCC. Visit for updates on schedules and any changes.
- Results: Daily results will be posted at venues and online (official results after verification period). Utilize the button on the sports pages to access results, other result links will be available closer to the Games.
- Entrant Eligibility: To compete, you must be a current or retired law enforcement officer, firefighter, customs officer, or correctional officer.
Once you have completed all required steps—such as registration, payment, and submission of necessary documents—your status will be officially confirmed, and you will receive your Athlete Accreditation. This credential serves as your official identification for the Games and must be worn or carried at all times. You will be required to present it at check-in each day before entering any competition venue. Failure to present valid accreditation may result in delayed access or disqualification from that day’s events.
Eligibility & Rules
You can compete if you are one of the following:
- Officer, Firefighter, in good standing, of an eligible agency with a minimum of two years' service.
- Retired Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic with 10 or more years of service (active EMTs/Paramedics with 2+ years also qualify).
- Volunteer or Part-time Firefighter with a minimum of two years' service (retired volunteers with 10+ years also qualify).
- Non-sworn, full-time employee (active or retired) of an eligible agency in specific roles (dispatcher, detention officer, crime scene investigator, lifeguard) with a minimum of 10 years of service (retired) or 2 years (active).
You are ineligible if:
- You were terminated from your agency for less than honorable reasons.
- You attempt to enter as an unqualified person or enter a team member who is ineligible.
The Games offer competitions in various age groups:
- 18-29 years
- 30-39 years
- 40-49 years
- 50 years & over
- Many individual events have even more specific age categories (e.g., 30-34, 35-39). You can compete in a younger age division if you choose.
All eligible agencies must be specifically approved by the WPFG (see listing). The WPFG may approve additional agencies, job descriptions and individuals if, after examination, it finds they qualify under the WPFG eligibility rules. The following lists are examples of eligible agencies.

Any agency or representative from an agency not mentioned above, meeting the requirements of a Police or Fire Agency as defined, may petition the WPFG Eligibility Committee for inclusion in the WPFG.

The entry book also covers:
- Duplicate Event Entries: You can only enter one age/skill/weight division per event and one doubles event with one partner (exceptions for specific scenarios).
- Team Events: Rules for team composition, captain responsibilities, and adding/changing team members.
- Competition Information: Mandatory meetings, venue check-in, substitutions, and handling of canceled events.
- Sports Divisions: How events are divided into categories (A/B/C divisions, joint participation, pooling).
- Bracketing/Scheduling: Combining competitors or events if necessary, seeding teams, and weight class bracketing.

- Medals: Awarded for 1st-3rd place in each event.
- Firearm Requirements & Transportation: Regulations for traveling with firearms as a foreign athlete and secure storage options offered by the Birmingham Police Department.
Competitor Conduct Requirements
- Intimidation: Competitors shall not intimidate or attempt to influence a Sport Coordinator or Sport Officials regarding rule changes. Taking a vote of competitors or otherwise obtaining a consensus of competitors' wishes to make rule changes is not allowed.
- Late Competitors & Scheduling: Competition will adhere to scheduling as published, or referred to, in the Confirmation Letter. Sports, events, games and/or matches will not be delayed accommodating late competitors. Some sports have grace periods in the rules. The Host shall adhere to those rules.
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct: Unsportsmanlike conduct will not be condoned during, before or after competition. Any behavior that brings discredit upon the WPFG, or Law Enforcement and Firefighting services in general will not be tolerated. Any physical or verbal assaults on officials, competitors, spectators, coordinators or ex-oficios will meet with immediate and the severest of penalty. Unsportsmanlike conduct of non-competitor Law Enforcement Officers and Firefighters or other supporters may reflect on their competitor associates and the continued participation of that individual or team.
- Alcohol & Drugs: Competitors are prohibited from consuming alcoholic beverages during competition and alcoholic beverages are prohibited from the field or area of competition. Controlled substances are prohibited from being used unlawfully by any person associated with the WPFG. No participant may compete in any WPFG sport/event “under the influence” of alcohol or a controlled substance. If such a condition is suspected, the participant shall be removed from competition and an immediate inquiry shall be conducted by the Host.
- Unlawful Activity: All persons who are associated with the WPFG shall abide by all Local, State and National laws that apply to those in attendance at the WPFG. Unlawful activity during this time will result in disqualification from competition and/or in the reporting of the activity. This and any other unlawful activity may result in exclusion from all future WPFGF events.
- Gambling: No gambling of any kind will be permitted during the WPFG.
- Cheating and Sandbagging: Cheating and Sandbagging is prohibited. “Sandbagging” is the term used to define the intentional efforts of a competitor in a sport divided into skill levels to gain an advantage by competing in a lower skill level than 1 they belong. For example, intentionally submitting or omitting scores that determine a handicap in Golf to unfairly raise the handicap.
Emergency Procedure
In case of an emergency, please follow the instructions of event staff or local authorities. Emergency personnel will be on-site to assist.
- Medical Emergencies: Dial 911 immediately.
- Fire or Other Emergencies: Evacuate the area calmly and follow the instructions of event staff.
