Intern with the World Police & Fire Games

The 2025 World Police & Fire Games are in Birmingham, Alabama from June 27, 2025 to July 6, 2025. The event is an Olympic-style competition with thousands of athletes representing First Responders from different countries across the world and features more than 8,500 athletes from 70+ countries, 60+ sports and 1,600+ medal events at 45 different venues.

The 2025 World Police & Fire Games seeks students (with junior or senior standing, or graduate students), or recent graduates willing to intern for the WPFG. WPFG is seeking several interns for the Summer 2025 Semester (June - July 2025). ALL Summer 2025 Intern positions are expected to attend digital training sessions in June 2025 between June 1 and June 25, and are expected to be in-person in Birmingham, AL from June 26 through July 7, 2025. Additionally, interns will have some post-event work to complete remotely.

Internships Available

  • Candidate Basics - The candidate is someone who understands the spirit of collaboration and cooperation. This person has mastered attention to detail, critical thinking, organization, personal responsibility, professionalism, and time management. The candidate should have experience with active problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. A member of this team is a strong communicator, has a positive attitude, is a team player, and has a strong sense of ethics and moral responsibility. 
  • Requirements - The candidate must have a desire to work in sports, special events, operations or a similar field. Basic computer skills with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Google Suite are a must. You must also be willing to stand or work on your feet inside/outside during a variety of different weather conditions for long periods of time.
  • Responsibilities - Daily activities include setting up/breaking down sports venues during live events, assisting in logistics management of transporting supplies, aid and support of other departments, and more. Those serving in Games Delivery are part of the team that “makes the games happen.” 
  • Credit and Hours - Candidates wishing to earn college credit for the Summer 2025 Internship may provide the paperwork required for credit. Interns will earn approximately 150 hours during the duration of the event, training prior, and post-event reports.

  • Candidate Basics - The candidate is someone who has a strong connection to the first-responder community and is eager to engage with first responders and be part of the team. A member of this team is a strong communicator, has a positive attitude, is a team player, and has a strong sense of ethics and moral responsibility.
  • Requirements - The ideal candidate is local to Birmingham, Alabama and is a strong communicator via public speaking, phone calls and via emails. An intern with the ability to speak in multiple languages is a plus. A candidate with existing relationships with first responders is preferred.
  • Responsibilities - Daily responsibilities include searching first responder databases, transferring information from emails to a database, engaging with athletes via social media and email.
  • Credit and Hours - Candidates wishing to earn college credit for the Summer 2025 Internship may provide the paperwork required for credit. Interns will earn approximately 150 hours during the duration of the event, training prior, and post-event reports.

  • Responsibilities - Daily responsibilities include researching potential sponsors, sending sales-focused emails, scheduling meetings, managing online submissions, and donations.
  • Credit and Hours - Candidates wishing to earn college credit for the Summer 2025 Internship may provide the paperwork required for credit. Interns will earn approximately 150 hours during the duration of the event, training prior, and post-event reports.

  • Requirements - The ideal candidate is local to Birmingham, Alabama and has experience working or planning live events. The candidates must have strong skills with scheduling and time management. Candidates must have skills using Google Drive.
  • Responsibilities - Daily responsibilities include planning and scheduling for events, creating themes for events, assisting with the opening and closing ceremonies, and assisting with activities within the Athlete’s Village.
  • Credit and Hours - Candidates wishing to earn college credit for the Summer 2025 Internship may provide the paperwork required for credit. Interns will earn approximately 150 hours during the duration of the event, training prior, and post-event reports.

  • Responsibilities - Daily activities include creation of press materials and development of media lists. The intern is responsible for managing the media clippings, and coordinating analytics reports.

Experience in photo/video editing is a plus. Ability to utilize Canva to create brand-specific content. *Candidates must have reliable transportation.
  • Responsibilities - Daily activities include creating contention for social media platforms, editing photos and videos, and curating content for the website. Using Google Drive and GroupMe to transfer content to the Social Media Coordinator(s), interns are expected to engage with spectators, sponsors, athletes, and more.
