Competition Format

A competitor MUST shoot the Individual Event to be eligible to shoot the Team Event. Active competitors from police and fire agencies may combine to form a team regardless of agency size WITHIN A COUNTRY. Retired competitors may combine to form a team in any manner they choose with other eligible competitors whether police or fire. This includes across country lines.

Weapons, Holsters, Ammo Carriers and Ammunition:

NO MODIFIED WEAPONS MAY BE USED IN THIS SPORT. IT MUST BE A FACTORY MANUFACTURED WEAPON WITH NO INTERNAL OR EXTERNAL MODIFICATIONS.

A. Be semi-automatic for pistols; revolver triggers must have a single and double action capability

B. Can be single action, double action only or safe action

C. Be 9mm (9x19) .38 special or larger caliber

D. Fit in the IDPA gun test box measuring 8 ¾” x 6” x 5/8” with an empty magazine inserted.

E. Trigger pull must be 5 pounds (2.27 kg) for first shot.

F. Only fixed sights (or sights blocked during the competition)

G. Seven (7) and eight (8) shot revolvers are permitted, but may only load six (6) rounds.

The competitor provides the required ammunition. There will be no major/minor power factor. Revolvers and semi-automatics may use factory or reloaded ammunition, with either, round nose lead, semi-wad cutter, jacketed hollow points or jacketed soft-point bullets. No wad-cutters, mid-range, armor piercing or magnum ammunition can be used.

Competition Format

POLICE PISTOL COMBAT: (Revolver or Semi-Automatic, Police Service Weapon and Open Class PPC Weapons)

INDIVIDUAL

  • Revolver

DISTINGUISHED MATCH: (Revolver or Semi-Automatic, Police Service Weapon and Open Class PPC Weapons)

INDIVIDUAL: Revolver Semi-Auto

 

  • Competitors can shoot both firearm classes, revolver and semi-automatic. Competitors must shoot Individual 1500 pistol and or revolver event to be eligible to shoot the Distinguished Match.
  • Competitors shooting in the “Classified” class of the individual event, will receive a temporary classification that will be used if they are also competing in the Distinguished Match event.
  • For the team events, competitors must shoot Individual PPC match to be eligible to shoot the team event.
  • Teams must be identified prior to the start of competition
