In order to be eligible to compete in the WPFG, you must be at least 18 years old and be publicly employed as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, customs and corrections officer and must have had formal training. Your primary occupation must be as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, customs and corrections service or defined retired officer for one of those employments.

At this time according to WPFG rules official volunteer fire fighters or law enforcement are not eligible to participate as a competitor in official events, however they may compete in open events.
