DO I NEED A VISA?
- To determine if you require a Visa to travel to the United States, please review the instructions in the Visas Handbook below or visit the U.S. Department of State’s Visa Wizard.
- A visa will be required of all visitors to enter or transit through the United States with the exception of nationals of Canada, Bermuda & countries that are part of the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
- The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) enables most citizens or nationals of participating countries to travel to the United States for tourism or business for stays of 90 days or less without obtaining a visa.
- Travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval prior to travel & meet all requirements.
INTERNATIONAL VISITORS
Birmingham 2025 World Police & Fire Games will not provide assistance in obtaining a Visa. Visitors from outside the United States may need a Visa to enter the country. Details can be found here. In most cases, Canadian citizens & citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda (Bermuda) are not required to present a valid passport & Visa when entering the United States for tourism & visits. Citizens from Visa Waiver Program countries can come to the United States without a Visa if they meet certain requirements as described here. All Visa Waiver Program travelers must present a machine readable passport at the US port of entry to enter the United States without a Visa; otherwise you will need a United States Visa. Please Note: A Visa does not guarantee entry into the United States of America.
Non-immigrant Visas are for international travelers coming to the US temporarily for business (Visa Cat B-1), tourism, pleasure or visiting (Visa category B-2), or a combination of both purposes (B-1/B-2). The Visa allows you to travel to a US port of entry & request permission to enter the United States. More information can be found here.
