  • For spectators, there is a CLEAR BAG policy at the Arena that must be followed.
  • For athletes, only the Athletes Bag provided at Registration or a sports bag for their competition is allowed.
  • All attendees will go through security screening.

KUMITE:

Men’s & Women’s Individual Kumite events will be offered from 3rd Kyu Belt and upwards, including Black Belt, in the following weight & age categories:

 

  • Men: 18+, 30+, 40+, 50+ & 60+
    • -60 kg
    • -67 kg
    • -75 kg
    • -84 kg
    • +84 kg
  • Women: 18+, 30+ & 50+
    • -50 kg
    • -55 kg
    • -61 kg
    • -68 kg
    • +68 kg   
  • Men’s & Women’s Team Kumite events: 18+ only.
    • Men: 5 competitors + 2 optional back-up team members; minimum of 5 to start, minimum of 3 for subsequent rounds
    • Women:  3 competitors + 1 optional back-up team member; minimum of 3 to start, minimum of 2 for subsequent rounds

Kata:

All categories for Men’s & Women’s Individual Kata will be offered from 3rd Kyu Belt and upwards, including Black Belt, in the following age categories:

 

  • Men: 18+ & 35+
  • Women: 18+ & 35+ 
  • Men’s & Women’s Team Kata events: 18+ & 35+ years: 3 competitors in a team + 1 optional back-up team member

 

Competitors from police and fire agencies may combine to form Doubles and/or Teams, regardless of agency size or service WITHIN A COUNTRY. Retired competitors may combine to form Doubles or Teams in any manner they wish with other eligible competitors whether Police or Fire. This includes across country lines or whether any other member of the Doubles or Team is actively employed or retired.

Competition Format

REQUIRED: All Karate competitors shall be Black Belt or Kyu Belt (Brown Belt only). NO EXCEPTIONS. They must possess an identification card, certificate or diploma authorized by a credentialed school or instructor.

COMPETITORS ‘ MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prior to or during Host Registration all Kumite competitors must submit a Medical Release, signed by a licensed physician, and based on a physical exam conducted within six months of competition. This release may take the form of a doctor’s note stating the entrant’s fitness to compete in a contact sport. You will not be able to compete until this requirement is met.

WEIGH-INS: You must enter in your estimated competition weight; however, you will fight at your weight at weigh-in. ALL Individual Kumite competitors MUST be present at the weigh-in. Full details of weigh-in will be provided in the Confirmation Letter.

TEAM EVENTS: Open to Black Belts only. KATA: 3 competitors in a team + 1 optional back-up team member. KUMITE: 18+ only. Men: 5 competitors + 2 optional back-up team members; minimum of 5 to start. Women: 3 competitors + 1 optional back-up team member; minimum of 3 to start. Team captains must submit team rosters with their entries.

1. Can I register for more than one sport?
Where possible, you are welcome to compete in as many sports as you like. However, please keep in mind some sports may overlap in schedule. We DO NOT recommend registering for sports with overlapping schedules. Register for your primary sports and disciplines, then once the final schedule is released in May, you can register for additional sports as the schedule allows.

2.  Can I combine with other agencies to form a team?
Competitors from police and fire agencies may combine to form Doubles and/or Teams, regardless of agency size or service WITHIN A COUNTRY. This sport is not sanctioned with a national or international entity. It is only governed by the WPFGF.

 

NO AGENCY ID, NO CREDENTIAL. It is your responsibility to show your agency ID or contact us if you do not have an ID. CREDENTIALS WILL NOT BE ISSUED TO ATHLETES WHO DO NOT PRESENT AN AGENCY ID. PARTICIPATION IN THE GAMES WITHOUT ACCREDITATION IS PROHIBITED
